We are so glad you dropped in to see our kittens. We are breeders of quality Ragdoll and Babydoll Cats.

Original Ragdolls is  a TICA and RI registered Cattery of Excellence!

Our Breeding Program; a labor of love:
When we adopted our first Ragdoll, we never knew that breeding would become such a wonderful passion for our family.  We adore each and every kitten we have raised,  and have greatly enjoyed the new friendships established with our new kitten families.  Over the past several years, our little cattery of three Ragdolls has grown into a successful cattery with long waiting lists.  We receive referrals and emails every day from people that have a friend with one of our kittens and have to have one 'just like it'.  These letters are what make it all worthwhile for us.  We never new when we started breeding "two litters a year" that our cattery would grow and evolve into such a labor of love.  In 2008, we introduced our original new breed of cats-- Babydoll Cats, and have had such a wonderful experience sharing our precious kitties with our adoptive families!  It has been a heartwarming journey-- yes, there has been many challenges and heartbreaking experiences along the way, made sacrifices, but the experience of bringing such joy to the lives of others is priceless.  We welcome you to our little Cattery and hope you enjoy your visit!

With the addition of new cats to our breeding program, we realized that meant we would have to have better control over the matings and care of our cats.  We built special rooms for our adult cats, where we separate the boys from the girls---for planned breedings.

Our kittens are born safe in our home where they are able to receive 24 hr care by our family.   When our queens are close to giving birth, we move them into a quiet bedroom in a birthing cage, where they can safely give birth,  relax, and cannot move the kittens.  We feel it is very important for the health and well being of our kittens to be able to 'control' the environment in which they are raised.  There is no way a breeder can successfully allow mom and kittens full access to the house and be able to keep track of them and.  Cages are very necessary in raising baby kittens, and this is the only way we can monitor them carefully.  It also helps keep momma happy as she is secure and safe, the drive to continually move her kittens is substantially lowered.  As the kittens begin to walk and explore, momma is able to easily teach her babies good litter box habits.  We found that in the beginning, we let them roam around the house freely and it was much more difficult for momma to train her kittens with good litterbox habits when they were all over the place.  We had very frustrated mama cats!  Our mentor told us that kittening boxes are imperative, and we quickly set up a better system for our next litters.   We take out the kittens every day to play and snuggle, and when they are older, they have learned how to master the use of a litter box much better than without using a cage.

We have found early socialization to be imperative in raising well adjusted kittens. These early weeks mold and create the personality your kitten will have for the rest of its life with you. Would you want to trust that crucial development phase with a "mill" where kittens  are unfamiliar with human touch?

The kittens available for adoption will be featured on the Kitten Nursery page.

Personality::

The more I raise kittens, the more I am amazed at the different personalities and how they develop! Just like us, each pet has a unique personality that is their very own. I feel it is very important to be watchful of each individual kitten in order to evaluate their personality correctly. In doing so, we are able to match every baby to the home that is best for them.  Why do this, you ask?  Well, this is a family member that you will be spending many years with, and I want to be able to find the best match for your particular home and lifestyle.

Adoption Application & Waiting List::

We have an on-line application for you to fill out if you would like to be on a waiting list for a kitten. The application has many questions that will help us place the right kitten with each family.

Kitten Prices::

We sell our kittens with two different contracts; Pet or Show. The cost of your Ragdoll will depend entirely upon what type of contract--or quality you prefer. Most families want to adopt a family pet, and that is when the Pet Contract applies. Our Show Contract is for persons interested in showing or possibly breeding. Pet Contract kittens adoption fees are less than Show Contract, but this does not mean in any way you are adopting a 'less quality' kitten. Pet Contract kittens are just as healthy and beautiful as show and breeder quality, the only difference is they have markings that would disqualify them from show rings. Many times our Pet Contract families actually acquire Show Quality kittens, but prefer to have a family pet rather than show. Due to our focus on finding 'families' for our kittens rather than breeding and show owners, we do tend to place most kittens in Pet Homes first, as we feel the Ragdoll is best suited in a loving environment and the center of it's new family's attention!

Both pet and show quality kittens are sold with a spay/neuter contract.  We do not alter the kittens before they leave our home, as we feel it is too invasive and dangerous for young kittens.   Owners must provide proof of operation before 4 months of age before we will release the TICA registration papers. We also sell our kittens with a no declaw contract as well. Breeder quality are sold with full breeding rights to approved catteries.

NOTE:: There are RARE occasions that the litter is smaller than anticipated or a breeding does not result in a pregnancy.  On that RARE occasion that there are only 2 or 3 kittens, or the breeding did not result in a pregnancy, you will be able to choose from the next litter of kittens.  (approximately a 4 month wait). This is BEYOND Original Ragdoll's control but it can happen. Please make sure you read have read our ADOPTION POLICY PAGE and understand this BEFORE You submit your deposit. There will be NO refunds and NO exceptions.

For waiting list availability--please feel free to email us BEFORE submitting your deposit. If at anytime you are wanting to waive your option to adopt for the next litter, you will be placed again where we can fit you on the next waiting list, if it is not full.

We reserve the right to refuse any application if we feel the environment or home would not be ideal for the puppy being requested

The Deposit and Application Date::

If we accept your application you will be required to send a non-refundable and non-transferable $200 per kitten deposit. I cannot place a kitten on hold until a deposit is made. This will guarantee you a place on our waiting list and will be deducted from the adoption fee, leaving balance due in CASH/Pay-pal, once your puppy/kitten has been chosen on Adoption Day. All payments will need to be made before the pick up/delivery day. If a family asks us to hold a kitten after the expected deliver date, we do require full payment of adoption fee before we can board the kitten. We ask this only, and do not charge any extra boarding costs to keep a kitten for up to three weeks, or kitten is 12 weeks old, unless we make arrangements prior. We want our kittens and new families to have a stress free transition from our home. Just give us a call if you need special arrangements, We love to work with you!

Applications are dated the day deposits are received, and we will send out an email to verify that the deposit was received. First pick of puppies/kittens is made in the order applications and deposits are received.

If you indicate you are interested in adopting two kittens, TWO deposits of $200.00 are required and must be received before the litter is offered to the waiting list for choosing. Once a deposit is submitted with an application, you will secure your place on our waiting list. If for any reason you decide not to adopt from us, your deposit will be forfeited, and your place on the waiting list will be given to the next family in line. Remember, a deposit shows us you are committed to adopting one of our kittens. We take that commitment seriously, and expect the same from our families on the waiting list. If you change your mind the loss of your deposit is your penalty. Please think through the decision to adopt a kitten and discuss the pros and cons with your family before you submit a deposit and application.

Continuing Contact through the Pregnancy ::

As our females are bred, we will maintain contact VIA email  with information on the litter and due dates. We love to get to know our families and encourage any questions you may have about your new baby. As the kittens are born, we will send out pictures through email to our awaiting families. All of our kittens are healthy and will receive their first shots, worming, and are sent with a new baby packet, and a lifetime of support! When you choose a kitten from Original Ragdolls, we are committed to providing support and contact throughout your kitten's life.
 Vaccination and Worming Schedule::

We also vaccinate and worm our kittens while they are with  us, and send a record with our kittens for you to show your vet. We recommend regular fecal exams to check for worms, as parasites are a common occurrence with cats, and can become a serious problem if not taken care of properly.

We vaccinate our Kittens at weeks 9, 12, 16, and worm them from 4 weeks old.

More on Adopting a Pet::

Adopting a pet is a big commitment and must be taken seriously as this dog could be with you for more than 15 years! Please take the time to read about your breed and learn before you adopt any new pet. All kittens are not alike. Be careful who you buy a pet from--there are many careless breeders who are only breeding to make money, and do not provide the proper care of their animals. Adopt your pet from a caring and respectable breeder.

If you are serious about adopting a kitten, we have references available. We ask that you do not request our references just to speak to someone with a kitten, as that would be unfair to our families on our reference list who give their time. Please be considerate!

Shipping & Delivery::

We deliver for a $120.00 fee within the state, (due to higher gas prices). If you live out of state, we either ship the kittens, or you can pick up the kitten and fly back with the crate under the seat as a carry on.

Shipping is usually $250 including crate and health certificate::
We prefer to deliver or have families pick up their kittens at our home, to prevent any cross-contamination during flights.  Many times the stess of flying can bring on colds or upper respiratory infections, so if we have to ship, I prefer for families to fly in and carry the kitten as a carry on.  Even in this situation, it is possible for the kitten to pick up a bug--it is something we cannot control, just like when we catch colds on flights.

If you choose to fly in or ship your kitten, please be aware that any new changes, new environment can be a stress on a kitten.

  • Health Certificate
  • Series 100 Crate
  • (International shipments may need special paperwork)
  • Proper food and bedding
We can make the shipping arrangements for you so you don't have to, unless shipping to Canada or abroad. Then we may need you to check into requirements.
Shipping is done either late in the evening or early in the morning. The baby sleeps through the flight with morning or afternoon arrival at your airport. Not all breeders ship kittens carefully, if you are having a kitten shipped to you from a breeder, make clear that the kitten is at least 10 weeks old. Insist that the kitten will have food, water, a bed, toy, etc.
